13 Upcoming Movie Sequels Nobody Asked For
7. Indiana Jones 5
Release Date: July 10, 2020
Even though the belated Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull violently murdered many fans' enthusiasm for any more entries into the franchise, Disney are pressing ahead regardless.
The real issue here is that Harrison Ford will turn 79 during shooting for Indy 5, and with Shia LaBeouf essentially exiled from the series after bad-mouthing the last film, there's no obvious figure for Indy to pass the mantle to.
So, why not reboot it with a young new actor instead? Because they're going to try and milk the nostalgia for the character one more time, quality be damned, that's why.
Could It Be Any Good?: If Ford's presence is dialed back somewhat, allowing him to be the Sean Connery-esque support to a Bradley Cooper or Chris Pratt, then this could just about work, but even someone as in-shape as Ford is going to struggle to look convincing during the physically demanding action sequences.
It's not a foregone disaster, but it could also end up being a bit embarrassing, and most fans would seemingly prefer to remember both Ford and Indy differently.
