13 Upcoming Movie Sequels Nobody Asked For

5. The Chronicles Of Narnia: The Silver Chair

The Chronicles of Narnia Voyage of the Dawn Treader
20th Century Fox

Release Date: TBA

The Narnia movie franchise was a basically enjoyable series of family adventure films, but with Fox failing to promptly follow-up 2010's The Voyage of the Dawn Treader with a sequel due to rights issues, it's hard to believe there would be the same audience now for a fourth Narnia flick, especially in light of the recent Young Adult boom.

Fox is finally pushing ahead with another sequel featuring a new creative team and young cast (though the likes of Liam Neeson and Tilda Swinton can probably be lured back). They're seemingly going the "rebootquel" route here by treating it as both a reboot and sequel, which has the potential to be confusing if it's not handled right.

The prevailing issue, though, is that the last Narnia film was the lowest-grossing of the three movies, pulling in a whole $330 million less than the first Narnia, making one wonder if the audience appetite just isn't there anymore.

Could It Be Any Good?: With Joe Johnston (Captain America: The First Avenger) directing and twice Oscar-nominee David Magee (Finding Neverland, Life of Pi) writing the screenplay, this could actually be pretty decent, if they can nail the casting.

Still, that doesn't mean audiences will turn up for it, and don't be surprised if this is yet another failed attempt by Hollywood to recycle a long-dormant franchise.
