13 Upcoming Movie Sequels We Really Don’t Need

3. Chronicle 2 (2015)

Chronicle was one of the most unexpectedly great movies of 2012: despite being released in the cinematic graveyard of February and costing merely $12 million, director Josh Trank managed to produce a beguiling found footage superhero flick, both highly original and extremely well acted, with Dane DeHaan and Michael B. Jordan having since gone on to bigger and better things. Trank has since gone on to prepare to direct the incoming Fantastic Four reboot, though after strong critical acclaim and a box office over ten-fold its small budget, a sequel was all but guaranteed. The scripting process has stalled the project over the last few years, with Fox reportedly not being satisfied with what Max Landis submitted (apparently it was too dark), to the point that they hired Jack Stanley to write the film instead. Given that most of the principal cast died in the movie and neither the original writer nor director will be involved, do we really need a sequel?
