13 Upcoming Movie Sequels We Really Don’t Need

13. Taken 3 (January 9, 2015)

Taken was one of the most unexpected smash-hit movies of the last decade, cementing Liam Neeson as an action hero for the ages and sure box office dynamite. The $25 million chase flick made an insane $226 million at the global box office, and despite mixed reviews from critics, has become something of a cult hit with audiences, such that a sequel followed in 2012, making an even more astonishing $376 million against a $45 million budget. As such, it's no surprise that a third film was promptly greenlit, and began filming just a few days ago in Los Angeles for an early 2015 release. The problem, invariably, is that the same scenario can only happen to the same guy a limited number of times, and by hurling Maggie Grace's daughter character into a light action role in the last film, the series has already stretched its credibility well past the point of goodwill. Neeson has insisted that the third film will shake the formula up, but how, exactly? Wouldn't we all rather see Neeson in another (hopefully R-rated) action film scenario rather than this played-out nonsense?
