13 Upcoming Movie Sequels We Really Don’t Need

10. Ted 2 (June 26, 2015)

Ted was one of the pleasant surprises of 2012: Seth MacFarlane's feature debut seemed like it might be a lazy extension of his Family Guy shtick, given how the titular talking teddy bear sounds exactly like Peter Griffin, and the style of humour seems, unsurprisingly, pretty similar. All that said, Ted turned out to be a critical and commercial triumph, amassing a gigantic $549 million at the box office against a $50 million budget, making it the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time, which in itself is always an uphill struggle. Story-wise, everything seems pretty played out by the end of Ted, though given the absurd, fantastical nature of the story alongside MacFarlane's potential for self-mockery, hopefully Ted 2 will draw a little attention to its own redundancy, just as the recent Muppets sequel did. Mila Kunis will reportedly only have a limited role in the movie, while Amanda Seyfried takes over the lead female part, making one wonder exactly how the relationship drama is going to work this time. Was everything we just sat through in the first movie for nothing? Of all the movies on this list, Ted 2 perhaps has the best chance of being decent, even good, but that doesn't mean we really need it. What was funny the first time may become old-hat if it's over-exposed.
