13 Upcoming Movies That Are Already Doomed (And Why)

Why It's Doomed: Last summer's X-Men: Apocalypse brought the First Class trilogy to an end, all while many of its key characters were left battling ridiculous age continuity, where James McAvoy's Charles Xavier and Michael Fassbender's Magneto in particular were supposedly only around 15 years away from looking like Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen in the original X-Men movie.

The next core X-Men film, code-named Supernova, will take place in the 1990s and most likely adapt Jean Grey's Dark Phoenix Saga. Though none of the principals are locked in yet, it's going to be incredibly weird if McAvoy, Fassbender and possibly also Rose Byrne's Moira MacTaggert return while looking so youthful.

You can argue that the new timeline has shifted the ages or some such nonsense, or Simon Kinberg and co. could basically just continue to take the "f*** it" approach to continuity, or maybe even reduce the roles of these iconic characters to make the age disparity less noticeable.

That said, are the new set of mutants introduced in Apocalypse really able to carry a movie by themselves? And while Jennifer Lawrence's Mystique would be a more natural fit considering her shape-shifting abilities making the age problem moot, she's clearly fed up with the role and would probably refuse a fourth go-around.

In short, getting this film together in a logical way is going to be extremely difficult, and it wouldn't be surprising in the slightest if it ended up either incredibly generic or an actual trainwreck.
