The Hype: An adaptation of Erik Larson's book based on 19th century serial killer H. H. Holmes, with Leonardo DiCaprio set to produce and probably star, while Martin Scorsese directs.

Why It Won't Happen: Like so many of Scorsese's potential projects, this one's been up in the air for years, with DiCaprio first purchasing the rights to the novel back in 2010.

With Scorsese being busy on The Irishman and already planning a Teddy Roosevelt biopic with DiCaprio, not to mention a potential J. Edgar Hoover movie, it doesn't seem likely he'll get to this adaptation anytime soon.

And of course, it's important to remember that the legendary filmmaker turns 75 years old this November.

Why It Still Could: Scorsese does work at a pretty decent pace, so it's not totally impossible that he manages to get all of these movies made over the next decade, but at the same time that requires a lot of factors (namely scheduling and financing) going incredibly smoothly.
