13 Upcoming Movies That Will Probably Get Cancelled
5. Mad Max: The Wasteland
The Hype: The much-anticipated follow up to 2015's astonishing, Best Picture-nominated masterpiece Mad Max: Fury Road, with director George Miller set to return alongside Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron.
Why It Won't Happen: Though Miller has reportedly had a script basically ready to go for several years, word has gone curiously quiet on the film over the last year-or-so, aside from some muttered insistence from Tom Hardy that it's still going ahead...eventually.
It's important to remember that Fury Road wasn't exactly a box office dynamo, and George Miller turns 73 next year, so one has to wonder how many more years can pass where he will willingly subject himself to the arduous production of a Mad Max sequel?
Plus, Hardy and Theron are super, super busy these days.
Why It Still Could: As for the box office "issue", there's no way the film didn't sell incredibly well on home video, and all those Oscar wins are pretty much value enough for Warner Bros. to want to bankroll a sequel.
Plus, Miller may take his sweet time getting movies made, but this franchise is his lifeblood, and if he could make something as insane as Fury Road in his late-60s, what's a few more years?
