13 Upcoming Movies That Will Probably Get Cancelled
3. The Sandman
The Hype: New Line Cinema is planning to release a glossy adaptation of Neil Gaiman's legendary epic fantasy comic book series The Sandman.
Why It Won't Happen: There have been countless attempts over the last 20 years to adapt Gaiman's classic comic into both a movie and TV series, the most promising and recent of which saw Joseph Gordon-Levitt attached to possibly star and direct.
However, Gordon-Levitt has since bailed, the last draft of the script was turned in almost a year ago, and frankly nobody really seems to know how to move forward with it.
With the challenging nature of the source material, and how to suitably adapt it into a blockbuster for mainstream audiences, it's not terribly surprising this one has been residing in development hell for so long. It's not happening.
Why It Still Could: We live in a world where Terry Gilliam actually got The Man Who Killed Don Quixote made after two decades of trying, so anything's possible (but not at all likely).
