13 Upcoming Movies That Will Probably Get Cancelled

1. Barbie

The Hype: Anne Hathaway will reportedly star as the titular figure, who is kicked out of "Barbieland" into the big wide world and has to deal with being imperfect. Indie filmmaker Alethea Jones (Fun Mom Dinner) directs and Diablo Cody (Juno) has worked on the script.

Why It Won't Happen: The first attempt to get a Barbie movie made was over 30 years ago, and in 2017, where Barbie is dismissed by an entire generation of parents as a sexist relic, is there really much need for this?

There's no chance it makes its planned August 2018 release, and with Hathaway recently replacing Amy Schumer in the title role, this seems like it could be one of those projects that's constantly scrapped, recast and re-written but never actually gets made (especially with Hathaway's stacked schedule).

Why It Still Could: It's clearly being made at a moderate price point so doesn't require the tremendous studio coffers that a lot of these films do, and the brand is so iconic that it'd easily make money even if it was absolutely terrible.
