13 Most Violent Foreign Films Since 2000

10. The Raid 2: Berendal (2014)

The follow up to the hugely popular first title, Indonesian martial arts film The Raid 2 is a visual feast and a thoroughly well presented action movie. Taking off just hours after the first movie left off, Indonesian cop Rama goes undercover with the thugs of Jakarta and plans to uncover the corruption within his police force. While doing so, countless people are hammered, burnt, shot and generally messed up by Rama and his guys. More unsettling though is the violence inflicted by the incredibly memorable €” and over the top €” baddies, the pick of the bunch being a sweet girl with two claw hammers, and a hooded young man with a baseball bat, metal ball and reluctance to speak. This is the sort of violence that simultaneously makes you feel sick in your stomach and laugh hysterically, whether it's someone's eye being moulded to an oven or their head being visibly blown apart by a shotgun.
