2. Maintain Heat Between Captain America & Iron Man
In spite of the fact that, as we've just said, we don't want to see the Avengers falling out completely any time soon - because that would be detrimental to their efforts against the likes of Ultron and Thanos - the heat that was hinted at between Tony Stark and Steve Rogers in the first Avengers movie should continue to arise in order to, ultimately, result in a war breaking out. We're aware of the fact that these two characters may not be around for it but, at the very least, they could lay the groundwork for a Civil War movie with their opposing opinions. Then, whether both of them are still there, whether one of them is still there, or whether neither of them are still there when the Civil War movie occurs, we could either have these two men representing the two sides, one of them going up against a replacement, or two replacements (Iron Patriot and Winter Soldier, perhaps) going up against each other with the opinions of their former friends in mind.
