There aren't many women who would go to extreme lengths to protect her family and although it is the tradition in Japan for men to protect their country and those that they love, Mulan transforms into a man in order to follow this tradition. Disney's Mulan is the story of a young girl who dresses and acts like a man in order to take her father's place in the army. Not only was this considered to be a huge disrespect to your family but cross dressing was also illegal. Mulan not only risked her life in this sense, but there was a high chance that she could have died during battle. Again, she was taking one for the team and proving that women are just as capable as a man and it's insulting that they rejected her help as a woman yet treasured her advice as a man.
