13 Worst Movie Performances Of 2018

2. Spencer Stone, Anthony Sadler & Alek Skarlatos (The 15:17 To Paris)

When conceiving his dramatisation of the 2015 Thalys train attack, Clint Eastwood made the bold yet fundamentally foolish decision to cast the three real-life American heroes as themselves, creating a perversely intriguing yet thoroughly awful mixture of docudrama and documentary film in the process.

Spencer Stone, Anthony Sadler and Alek Skarlatos are not natural actors, and it shows in every frame of this movie.

Eastwood's notoriously snappy shooting style was pretty much the worst thing these guys could've had in their first acting gig, because Eastwood clearly had little desire to actually work with the three men and help them hone their "craft".

The result is a distractingly inauthentic trio of performances, which is all the more ironic given that they actually lived these moments themselves.

The 15:16 to Paris is an especially miserable experience as it ends up accidentally rendering these three men worthy of ridicule despite their undeniable real-life heroism.

Clearly Eastwood should've just cast three unknown actors, and considering how spectacularly this experiment blew up in everyone's faces, it's hard to imagine another director attempting a similar gamble any time soon.
