13 Worst Movie Sequel Titles Ever

5. Quantum Of Solace

Many eyebrows were raised when the title for the sequel to Casino Royale was revealed to be Quantum of Solace, for though its namesake was lifted from Ian Fleming's 1959 short story of the same name (while sharing no plot similarities), most were just baffled at what the hell it actually meant.

If you break down each individual word the title is clearly relating to 007's (Daniel Craig) quest to find some peace following Vesper Lynd's (Eva Green) betrayal/death in the previous film, while also nodding to the film's shadowy Quantum organisation which antagonist Dominic Greene (Mathieu Amalric) belongs to.

But if a title literally makes your head hurt and forces you to compartmentalise it just in order to understand what it means, is it in any way effective?

It also might explain why the film actually grossed slightly less than Casino Royale, when you'd certainly have expected that film's momentum to propel this one to a far stronger performance.

But when your average punter can't even remember the bloody title, it's a bit counter-intuitive, no?
