138 Mistakes In The Matrix You Didn't Notice

102. Transition Lenses

We all know about transition lenses in glasses that can change into sunglasses, but in the Matrix they appear to have lenses that change from matte to reflective. When Morpheus and Neo are talking in the Construct, Morpheus's glasses are clearly matte black. After a cutaway shot to Neo and we return back to Morpheus, the glasses are suddenly 1990's-cool reflective. It appears this was intentional to prevent the Steadicam operator filming his own reflection in the glasses. So for that one shot, the glasses were painted black and Lawrence Fishburne couldn't see out of them. In any case, once you notice it, it's a distraction every time you watch the scene.

101. Pain In The Reflective Ass!

In the same scene, Morpheus and Neo are about to sit down and watch some telly and give us another reason why reflective sunglasses are just not worth it on a movie set. Neo is standing to the side of the red chair but in the glasses, he is shown standing behind it.

100. Cows Maybe?

OK, the machines need humans to generate heat and act like a battery. But would it not make more sense to use a cow or other animal that would do the same thing? That way you wouldn't have to create the Matrix, just a large field where they can eat grass all day. And the bonus is that there wont be a cow resistance movement to contend with.

99. Boom

The boom mic has been the destroyer of many scenes and it makes an appearance in the Matrix. Morpheus looks up at the sky and you see a boom mic reflected in his glasses. In general, his glasses have been a royal pain in the ass in this film.

98. Shadows?

The whole point of the construct is that it's not real. So if you watch the scene in the white room, there are no shadows at all. But when Neo backs away, you can see the shadows cast by his feet have not been removed in post production. Doh!
