And now for something a little different. Indie sci-fi filmmaker Shane Carruth (Primer, Upstream Colour) has always struggled to get his movies funded, and his next planned project, The Modern Ocean, is no exception.

A drama about international shipping (yup), the central cast - Anne Hathaway, Keanu Reeves, Tom Holland and Daniel Radcliffe - was confirmed in late 2015, and we've heard zilch since.

A cast that illustrious will surely inflate the budget substantially, yet the expectedly heady concept of the film could also drive away investors who would otherwise throw money at movies starring Spider-Man, John Wick and Harry Potter.

Tom Holland called it "the best script [he's] ever read" last year but seemed doubtful that it was going anywhere anytime soon. Much like Carruth's previous project, A Topiary, this is probably dead and he'll move onto something else eventually.

Which announced movies are you most convinced will never actually get made? Shout them out in the comments!
