14 Announced Movies That Are Never Coming Out

11. Justice League Dark

DC Comics

The beloved, supernatural spin on the Justice League was first set for a live-action adaptation back in 2012 when Guillermo del Toro signed on for a project called Dark Universe.

The script was completed by late 2014, and after word went quiet for a while, Doug Liman joined to direct in the summer of 2016, with del Toro shifting into a producer role due to scheduling commitments.

Liman eventually bailed to direct Chaos Walking, and though the film was officially renamed to Justice League Dark last summer, the movie has remained without a director for well over a year now.

Given the complexities involved in doing, ahem, justice to such a visually complex band of anti-heroes - namely a huge budget and a dark tone that could deter younger audiences - it's clearly quite a gamble for Warner Bros., who have probably had their fill of high-risk superhero movies for now.
