7. Terminator Genisys Sequel

The Movie: Terminator Genisys was planned to be the start of a new Terminator trilogy, with Genisys' first sequel penciled in for a May 19, 2017 release long before the fifth Terminator film had even hit cinemas.

Why It Got Cancelled: As movie studios are often so guilty of, the cart was put far before the horse here, and when Genisys was critically panned and financially disappointing outside of China, the brakes were promptly put on the proposed sequels.

The beauty of Genisys' follow-up being cancelled is that it cleared the path for James Cameron, who gets the series' rights back in 2019, to return to the franchise in an advisory capacity, helping director Tim Miller create a sixth Terminator film far away from the nonsense of Genisys.

Though there's no guarantee that T6 will in fact be any good, it's certainly got a better shot with Cameron's active involvement, and without Emilia Clarke or Jai Courtney.
