14 Awesome Directors Who Need A Superhero Movie

6. Alfonso Cuaron

Much like Darren Aronofsky, Alfonso Cuaron has tremendous experience directing smaller character-driven movies (Y Tu Mamá También) and big-scale tentpoles (Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Gravity), making him a sturdy, reliable fit for the dual demands of a superhero movie.

How Likely Is It?: The fact that Cuaron has worked within the strict confines of the Harry Potter franchise certainly strengthens his chances, though it's possible that, a decade-plus later, he wouldn't want to place such constraints on himself again in a cinematic universe.

Cuaron's currently in post-production on his small-scale drama Roma due out next year, but once that's done, he just might be prepared to step back into the blockbuster game. He'll no doubt be fielding plenty of offers, anyway, and one suspects he just might accept. 7/10
