1. Rian Johnson

And finally, we have Rian Johnson, one of the hottest filmmakers working today, acclaimed for both his feature film work (Brick, The Brothers Bloom, Looper) and his TV directing (namely several pivotal episodes of Breaking Bad).

Johnson is currently wrapping up post-production on Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which has been one of the few new Star Wars movies to go smoothly without any production issues. Plus, LucasFilm is said to be incredibly happy with his work on the movie, to the point that they offered him first refusal to direct Episode IX after binning Colin Trevorrow.

With Johnson recently turning down the Episode IX gig, where does he have to go from here but into the superhero genre? It's the next logical step.

How Likely Is It?: While it's possible that Johnson may want to return to a smaller-scale movie for his next project, he's almost certainly going to receive a ton of comic book offers over the next year unless The Last Jedi is an unexpected dud.

It's hard to imagine him not making a superhero movie at some point, whether it's in the next two years or the next ten. 9/10

Which directors would you most like to see make superhero movies? Got any other suggestions? Shout them out in the comments!
