The Plot: Oscar (Nathaniel Brown) is an American drug dealer living in Tokyo when, after being set-up, he is killed by the police. In his final moments of drug-induced hallucination, his soul spans the extent of his memory to find meaning in it all, while seemingly inventing a narrative for what follows his death. Most WTF Moment: Oscar enters the mind of his pal Alex (Cyril Roy) as he's having sex with Oscar's sister Linda (Paz de la Huerta). He then ends up inside Linda's vagina, giving the audience an uncomfortably up-close glimpse of Alex as he thrusts into her, before ejaculating. Oscar then follows the seminal deposit as it fertilises his sister's ovum. Yep. Why It's Awesome: It's fair to say that Gaspar Noe's uncompromising 143-minute trip won't be for everyone, but it's a fiercely ambitious work of experimental cinema that violently grabs the viewer during its snazzy opening titles sequence and basically never lets up. Enter the Void's dreamlike nature means that it's a mix of unfettered subconscious and doesn't have much inherent coherence, but as an experience, it's probably cinema's most authentic depiction of a hallucinogenic narcotic episode.
