14 Awesome Movies To Watch This Summer (Which Aren't Blockbusters)

2. Leave No Trace

Leave No Trace Ben Foster
Bleecker Street

Release Date: June 29

The Plot: A father (Ben Foster) and his teenage daughter (Thomasin McKenzie) are living out a seemingly peaceful yet nomadic existence in an Oregon park, but when the daughter is spotted by a hiker, their lives are turned upside down.

Why It's Going To Be Awesome: Based on Peter Rock's acclaimed book My Abandonment and helmed by Winter's Bone director Debra Granik, there's plenty to be excited about here in a movie that's also headlined by the ever-brilliant Ben Foster and a young actress already being called a major find, Thomasin McKenzie.

Reviews from the Sundance premiere have been universally positive, for though the film doesn't seem to quite hit the highs of Granik's previous Best Picture nominee, it's still a searing, deeply-felt drama with a keen sense of place.
