14 Awesome Movies To Watch This Summer (Which Aren't Blockbusters)
12. Tully
Release Date: April 20
The Plot: Overworked mother-of-three Marlo (Charlize Theron) is gifted a night nanny, Tully (Mackenzie Davis), by her wealthy brother Craig (Mark Duplass). A bond quickly forms between the two as Marlo seeks to get her life back on track.
Why It's Going To Be Awesome: Tully was the Surprise Film at Sundance this year, and has generally received rave reviews so far. Widely touted as a comeback for director Jason Reitman (Juno, Up in the Air), the film is said to be a sensitive, funny and charming character piece with typically excellent work from Theron and co-star Davis.
Though Diablo Cody's scripts have been a little hit-and-miss in recent years, she's earned square praise here for turning in one of her best efforts in years, a fiercely feminist drama being cleverly released the same weekend as the awful-looking Amy Schumer comedy I Feel Pretty.
