14 Awesome Recent Movies That Actually Deserve Sequels

Adam Wingard's deliciously entertaining throwback thriller is a loving homage to classic genre films such as The Terminator and Halloween, with Dan Stevens delivering a star-making performance as a ruthlessly brutal young man who, well, that would be spoiling.

Gorgeously shot and oozing additional style thanks to a moody alt-rock soundtrack, The Guest became a near-instant cult classic upon release, and its hilarious cliffhanger ending cheekily provoked the prospect of a follow-up.

How Likely Is It?: Though writer Simon Barrett has plenty of ideas for The Guest 2, the original's failure to make even its modest $5 million back makes a sequel incredibly unlikely.

Plus, Stevens' growing profile since the film's release would probably require a budget boost that the studio couldn't handle. It's a one-off, sorry folks. 2/10
