Though Kevin Smith has made a number of acclaimed indie and studio comedies, from Clerks to Chasing Amy, Dogma and Zack and Miri Make a Porno, his more recent output has been incredibly scattershot, and he hasn't released a movie that was both critically acclaimed and successful at the box office since 2008's Zack and Miri Make a Porno.

While Smith's glut of recent experimental movies such as Tusk and Yoga Hosers have been made on tiny budgets, he's still not making back bank theatrically, and critics and fans alike are heavily divided on whether or not he's spending his time wisely.

Will It Happen?: Smith does have a bunch of film projects on the horizon, though the only one with any real commercial viability is the planned Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, but of course, Smith talks up a ton of projects that never come to fruition (what with the recent cancellation of Clerks III), so there's no guarantee it'll actually happen.

Smith is at least keeping himself busy with plenty of TV work (he's directed episodes of The Flash and Supergirl), but most of his planned movie projects continue along his experimental vein and seem unlikely to redeem him to his core fanbase.
