14 Dumbest Things In Star Trek V: The Final Frontier

6. Spock Rockets

Spock’s rocket boots are involved in a pair of incredibly dumb moments in the film.

First, after distracting Kirk into falling off the side of a mountain, he rockets after and catches him just short of hitting the ground, but as they hover there the rockets are not pointed straight down but about 45 degrees off to one side, and thus they should either be jetting off to screen right or careening off and crashing to the ground.

Later, in turboshaft three, as Kirk and McCoy begin climbing, Spock exits from the bottom of the shaft, then, after a bit descends from above via his rocket boots. How the heck does that work? If the point of climbing this out-of-service turboshaft was to minimize the risk of getting caught, then how did Spock get above them? Riding a functional turbolift?

And here a lot of you thought the out of sequence numbers for 78 decks in a 20 deck tall ship was the worst part of this...
