In Game Of Thrones
Jim Broadbent has only just arrived in Westeros, making his first appearance in Season 7 premiere Dragonstone. He's playing Archmaester Ebrose, who is mentoring Sam at the Citadel and specialises in healing.
In Harry Potter
He was Professor Horace Slughorn, a retired teacher who was coaxed out of retirement in The Half-Blood Prince to once more serve as Hogwarts' Potions Master. He was, of course, the one who gave Tom Riddle his first real insight into the Horcruxes that would later help make Lord Voldemort so powerful.

He's appeared in great British TV shows like Only Fools and Horses and Blackadder, along with films from Brazil to Bridget Jones' Diary, Moulin Rouge to Cloud Atlas, Hot Fuzz, and Iris, for which he won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.
