And it's not after you've nearly been killed by dinosaurs like ten times. Poor Lex and Tim; they've already been let down by the lawyer (who got his comeuppance by dying most unheroically on a toilet) and Dr Grant's decided now's a good time to start bonding with them. For someone who stated at the start of the adventure that he doesn't like kids, Dr Grant certainly comes around to Lex and Tim. In fact, you might even say that he likes them by now. But that is no excuse to start pulling stupid jokes like almost dying when they've just been traumatised multiple times in a row.
