The huge resurrection of Matthew McConaughey's career over the last two years has been dubbed the "McConaissance", with his sublime performances in the likes of Mud, Killer Joe, The Lincoln Lawyer, Magic Mike and Dallas Buyers Club rightly causing fans to reassess the actor, not so much as a shirtless guy taking easy paycheques in rom-coms, but an extremely talented man finally taking full advantage of his skills. This all culminated last night, as the actor scooped his widely-anticipated Best Actor Oscar for his career-best performance in Dallas Buyers Club. The suave actor gave a charming speech that invoked the word of God yet didn't shove it down people's throats, but more to the point, he did just as he promised to, ending his speech on those famous words from Dazed and Confused, "Alright, alright, alright".
