14 Memorable Moments From This Year's Oscars

11. Gravity Sweeps The Technicals

Contributing hugely to the fact that this was the most predictable Oscar show in years was that Alfonso Cuaron's Gravity was simply so far ahead of its competitors in every single technical category. The movie easily took Cinematography, Film Editing, Sound Editing, Sound Mixing and Visual Effects awards, and in addition to this Cuaron's wondrous direction won him an Oscar, along with Steven Price's ethereal score. Most of these wins had been long-telegraphed, though it was still extremely satisfying to see the sci-fi masterpiece dominate the Oscars. Though Gravity didn't go on to win Best Picture, due to its technical sweep it ended up winning a total of 7 Oscars, more than double that of any other competitor, including Best Picture winner 12 Years A Slave, making it in some eyes the real winner of the night.
