14 Most Disappointing Movies From Summer 2015

12. Pixels

Why It's Disappointing: Even with the baggage that Adam Sandler brings to any movie, it was hard not to at least expect a movie superior to his usual comedy fare, especially with the likes of Peter Dinklage and Michelle Monaghan signed on as co-stars. Instead, though, Pixels is a lame blockbuster that squanders its excellent concept by failing to show even a basic level of respect to the games it references. Q-Bert p**ses himself and then gets turned into a female video game character to satisfy Josh Gad's character's childhood fantasy. Yes, really. The romance sucks, the action sequences are surprisingly dull, and there's absolutely no internal logic to the alien invasion storyline whatsoever. How To Improve It: Cut the crude humour and make a film that actually feels like the creative minds have actually played a few video games in their lives. Also, bring Dinklage into the fold quicker (he's not in the first half of the film), establish some rules that actually make sense, cut the run-time by 20 minutes and hurl more action into the mix.
