2. Carol Marcus Strips - Star Trek Into Darkness

The Scene: As Dr. Carol Marcus (Alice Eve) reels off an exposition dump to Captain Kirk (Chris Pine), she instructs him to turn around while she gets changed.

Unsurprisingly, Kirk can't help himself and turns back around seconds later to catch an eyeful of Marcus in her underwear, much to her chagrin.

Why It's Out Of Place: This is easily one of the most eye-rollingly shoehorned eye-candy scenes from any major Hollywood movie of the last five years, and feels like something you'd expect more from Transformers than Star Trek.

Can't Alice Eve just be a good actress who plays a smart, resourceful woman? Instead, she's reduced to a lingerie model in this sequence, with J.J. Abrams' painfully obvious framing making it that much more pandering.

To their mild credit, writer Damon Lindelof apologised for the scene and Abrams admitted it didn't play right, but it still musters a hard cringe every single time.
