14 Most Terrifying Moments From Alien Films
8. It's A Robot! Ash Is A Goddamned Robot! (Alien)
There was always something rather sly and aloof about Ash. Perhaps being a science officer he felt his work was of greater significance compared to the rest of the Nostromo crew. Turns out they were insignificant indeed.
The signs were there from the start. Ash was dismissive of Ripley's growing concern for Dallas, Kane and Lambert when they ventured out onto the inhospitable planetoid. Acted in insubordination by allowing a facehugged Kane back into the Nostromo despite strict quarantine laws.
Was practically protective of the facehugger when Ripley showed interest in the analysis he was doing with the grotesque creature. Gave surreptitiously knowing glances towards Kane during the crew's harrowing last supper. Stopped Parker from killing the baby Xenomorph. And seemed reluctant to offer any advice on how to kill the alien.
It all came to a crazy crescendo when he confronted Ripley as she tried to warn Parker and Lambert about the company's shadowy ulterior motive for sending them there in the first place. Cue Possessed Ash.
The bulging, hate-filled eyes as he chokes Ripley with the rolled-up magazine. His unbelievable strength as Parker and Lambert struggle to stop him and when Ash gives Parker the most painful of nipple twists. How is this possible from someone who's rather diminutive in stature?
Parker provides us with the the bluntest of answers by smashing Ash's head, leaving him to memorably observe: "It's a robot! Ash is a goddamned robot!"
