7. An Unwanted Pregnancy (Prometheus)
Women of the world, we salute you. As a bloke, it's impossible to even comprehend the pain both physically and emotionally you experience whilst giving birth. Then Ridley Scott goes and adds his his unique dash of visionary twistedness to make things more graphically traumatic.
Archaeologist Elizabeth Shaw manages to locate the medical pod despite stumbling several times in agony due to the rather unconventional fetus within her. Shaw states she "needs cesarean", but the emergency procedure is unavailable as the pod is "calibrated for male patients only". Clearly there's still some equality issues in the late 21st century. She eventually circumvents the calibrations and enters the med pod.
As the procedure is focused on such a confined space, it explicitly exacerbates all of Shaw's rollercoaster of emotions. Fear, seeing the creature visibly bob up and down. Anger, when shouting at the med pod to get a bloody hurry on. Extreme pain as her midriff is cut open by lasers, the incision pulled slightly apart before something akin to a fairground claw crane extracts the gooey embryo.
No doubt Shaw was thinking that typical it works here and never at the arcades when you want it to.
Panic, as it hatches and begins frantically wriggling. More extreme pain as staples are rapidly applied to her gaping wound. Frustration, at the med pod to get a bloody hurry on and decontaminate the writhing Trilobite. And finally exhaustion having scrambled away.
