14 Movie Franchises You Had No Idea Still Existed

Clive Barker's Hellraiser franchise is one of the most fascinating and unique horror series out there, with its focus on BDSM culture, creative gore effects and the unmistakable icon that is Pinhead.

Though the series reliably churned out sequels from the late 1980s until the mid-2000s, by this point the budgets had begun to dramatically decrease, and the movies were mostly made by taking unrelated spec scripts and transforming them into Hellraiser movies.

The franchise found its nadir with 2011's direct-to-DVD Hellraiser: Revelations, the first sequel in six years which was made for a mere $300,000 in order for the studio to retain the rights to the IP, without the involvement of Pinhead himself, Doug Bradley.

It was atrocious, naturally, and though it seemed to signal the end of the series, the tenth movie, Hellraiser: Judgment, was released at the beginning of 2018.

It wasn't quite as awful as Revelations - thanks to a slightly higher budget and a far more competent actor playing Pinhead - but it's fair to say that the series isn't exactly at its healthiest right now, even if it's somehow still surviving.
