14 Movie Posters And DVD Covers That Blatantly Lied To You
12. Troll 2
It’s hard not to feel bad for the people who had to market Troll 2, one of the most famously bad movies in existence. They did a solid job with it, to their credit, as the posters and VHS covers lie to the point that you might even be inclined to watch it.
First of all, there’s the cover that depicts some sort of weird, furry creature with glowing red eyes and fangs wielding an axe. It’s a solid image suggesting a much creepier movie, but sadly, nothing like that creature appears in the actual film.
It’s not even just an exaggeration; they flat out made up a monster out of thin air to put on the cover.
The back of the VHS and DVD is a total lie, too. It reads, “Young Joshua enters a world of darkness, where witches brew their spells and evil trolls deliver them.” That would be all well and good, but there is not one troll in the whole movie, and witches certainly don't control them. The real villains are vegetarian goblins.
That world of darkness part isn’t true either, as Joshua just goes on a road trip with is family to a rural town. About 10 minutes into Troll 2, you’ll desperately wish you were watching the movie that was marketed instead of the real one.
