No, this isn't a horror film, it's a thriller and I refuse to be told otherwise. We are never really told much about Brad Pitt's relationship with Gwyneth Paltrow in this film and I wouldn't be lying if I said I'm glad of that. But it ends up playing a major part in the excellent twist ending when Kevin Spacey's nut ball religiously-motivated serial killer John Doe mails poor ol' Gwyneth's head to the protagonists in a box. All this says is that if you're in a relationship, you're an easy target and people will use it against you. Sure it all starts as fun and games on one end of the spectrum, perhaps someone will tell your girlfriend that you were actually stealing steaks from the restaurant you wait at and you're not a world class chef like you told her. It's only a matter of time before her limbs start to arrive in the post though.
