14 Simple Fixes That Would Have Made Fantastic Four Awesome
5. Get Rid Of The Time Leap
The time leap of one year is definitely one of the most sudden and unexpected moments in the entire movie, because there's not really much of a feeling of the passage of time, beyond Reed having a little facial hair, the team now having some superhero suits and Thing working as a weapon for his captors. Moreover, there's not really much of a need for it: Reed could go missing and surface a few weeks later and it would make the film feel more "together". Instead, having so much dead air makes it feel like the viewer has almost certainly missed something, likely as a result of the poor editing and attempts to save the film with reshoots. Hell, shove a middle-act in during the time jump and the film would probably already feel much more complete. Even so, if the story were more self-contained timeline-wise, it would surely seem a ton more coherent and gathered.
