14 Simple Fixes That Would Have Made Fantastic Four Awesome
4. Keep Most Of The Action On Earth
Almost all the action in the movie takes place in the desolate landscape that is Planet Zero, and while that's just fine for the accident scene itself, it's a pretty bland locale in which to stage the final set-piece in particular. Where's the visual majesty that defines the genre's most memorable movies: The Avengers' Battle of New York, for one? Above all else, there aren't as many stakes if the action is set in some empty, barren wasteland, and though a couple of cars and trees from Earth do get sucked into Doom's black hole, there's just no palpable sense of danger for humanity. Why should the audience give a damn? Setting a battle between Doom and the Four on Earth would enhance the sense of peril hugely, and provide a more visually interesting setting for some carnage. Maybe have Doom blow up some skyscrapers and cause the scale of mayhem you typically expect from a comic book movie of this kind. Again, scaling-up the budget would absolutely allow for this.
