14 Terrible Looking 2017 Movies That Will Shockingly Make A Profit

11. The Mummy

The Mummy
Universal

Release Date: June 9

Why It Looks Terrible: Nobody really asked for another Mummy movie, especially one without Brendan Fraser, and though the casting of Tom Cruise is definitely weird enough to make this at least a little interesting, what's been shown off so far looks painfully generic and forgettable.

Plus, it's directed by Alex Kurtzman (co-writer of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and The Amazing Spider-Man 2), which is plenty reason to be skeptical.

Why It'll Still Make A Profit: Tom Cruise's movies rarely bomb at the box office, and this one has such a simple hook that it'll easily make its colossal production budget back many times over, largely thanks to the lucrative international market.

It's arriving bang in the middle of the summer when people just want to watch dumb escapist entertainment, and as rancid as it looks, it'll still rake in that easy cash from undemanding audiences.
