2. Toni Erdmann

Toni Erdmann was one of the most-acclaimed movies of last year, an hysterical, absurdist German-Austrian comedy about a businesswoman (Sandra Hüller) who is constantly pestered by her bored prankster father (Peter Simonischek), with disastrous (and hilarious) results.

The Oscar-nominated comedy also isn't a project that immediately seems apt for the remake treatment, but Paramount has nevertheless snapped up the rights, with Kristen Wiig and Jack Nicholson set to star in a project produced by Adam McKay and Will Ferrell. Lena Dunham and Jenni Konner are in talks to write the script.

There's no word on the director yet, but the sheer fact the project's bringing Jack Nicholson out of semi-retirement is enough to make it an absolute must-see. It'll naturally be very different from the original, but it if can harness Nicholson's mad-cap energy opposite an exasperated Wiig, this could be a real treat in its own right.
