Why It's Doomed: Producer James Cameron and director Tim Miller (Deadpool) are attempting to resurrect the Terminator franchise with a new sequel which will ignore the post-T2 timeline and act as a direct sequel to Judgement Day instead.

Arnold Schwarzenegger will return alongside Linda Hamilton, which while mildly intriguing, isn't really enough to suggest that this will be anything more than yet another desperate attempt to jolt some life into the festering corpse that is the Terminator franchise.

The series hasn't released an even half-decent entry since 2003, so the odds aren't exactly looking great, and at this point, the fact that Cameron is still clinging to Schwarzenegger's presence isn't at all helpful if the series is going to actually survive past the next decade-or-so.

After Cameron embarrassingly sang the praises of Terminator Genisys shortly before its release, it's hard to buy too much into anything he says about the series, especially as he's not in the director's chair.
