14 Upcoming Movies That Might Be Surprisingly Awesome
11. Halloween
Release Date: October 19, 2018
Why It Should Suck: For starters, the Halloween series hasn't been relevant for a long, long time, and Rob Zombie's attempt to restart the flagging franchise a decade ago didn't exactly go swimmingly.
Plus, it's being written by David Gordon Green and Danny McBride, which just feels like a desperate wild card gamble.
Why It Might Be Awesome: At least Green is a great director when he wants to be, so he and McBride could bring a very different flavour to the series, and with John Carpenter on-board as executive producer and creative consultant, hopefully he can stop them making any major missteps.
Perhaps the most interesting news about the film is that it's in fact a direct sequel to 1981's Halloween II, ignoring the risible other follow-ups and kicking off once Michael Myers has already terrorised Haddonfield. It's nothing if not a bold approach, which is perhaps exactly what the series needs.
