14 Upcoming Movies That Will Probably Waste Awesome Actors

5. Hugo Weaving - Mortal Engines

The Role: Thaddeus Valentine, the Head of the Guild of Historians and the movie's antagonist, being apparently responsible for the murder of hero Hester Shaw's (Hera Hilmar) mother.

Few actors can play a love-to-hate-them bad guy as well as Hugo Weaving, proven no better, of course, than with his sublime work in The Matrix trilogy and his deliciously hammy work as Red Skull in Captain America: The First Avenger.

This low-profile $100 million steampunk romp, however, suggests a pretty humourless, self-serious role for Weaving, which may prevent him from having much fun with the part.

As such, don't be surprised if Weaving comes out a few months after the movie's release and admits he only did it for the money, something he did with both Captain America and the Transformers franchise (in which he voiced Megatron).
