15 Acclaimed Recent Movies That Are (Probably) Doomed To Receive A Backlash

7. Ted

Deadpool 2016
Universal Pictures

Ted was hilarious back when it came out, but since it really is just a one-joke film (A teddy bear being a crude stoner) it doesn't endure multiple viewings well at all and one of the reasons why its tedious sequel underwhelmed was that the novelty of the concept had worn off long ago.

Another damaging thing is the familiar storyline. A great contrast to use is Team America: World Police or Sausage Party. Both of those movies also rely on one joke: marionettes and CGI items of food respectively behaving badly. Are they still funny once the joke wears off? No, not really, but you can still watch them and have an OK time since both movies have very good stories.

Unfortunately, Ted is basically a typical rom-com plot aside from the swearing teddy bear and once the shock factor wears off, there's not an awful lot to it.
