15 Acclaimed Recent Movies That Are (Probably) Doomed To Receive A Backlash

8. Lincoln

Another Oscar-Bait movie now. Many recent awards season hits, such as The King's Speech, The Artist, Argo, Les Miserables, Zero Dark Thirty, American Hustle, American Sniper, The Theory of Everything, La La Land, Green Book, Bohemian Rhapsody and Vice, seemed to face backlash after their release, even though not all such backlashes are deserved. Lincoln would be a deserving one though.

There's no denying that Lincoln is brilliantly acted and cinematically strong; it's just... so boring! It creaks along at a snail's pace and is never very lively or dramatic. If you want to see a rousing or entertaining viewing experience, Lincoln will not be your thing at all.

Lincoln has already been subject to some criticism by historians over historical inaccuracies, such as the film's depictions of Lincoln's advisers and of Lincoln using bribes and political fixers, and this is only likely to increase in the coming years.

On a first viewing Daniel Day-Lewis' stunning lead performance will probably carry the film, but thanks to both how airless and dull the film really is and the aforementioned historical inaccuracies, it's unlikely many will enjoy revisiting it and as such it'll probably be far less popular in the future.
