Another actor who kicks off the year with a Golden Globe nomination (and a first Oscar nod too), former Worst Witch star Jones has been tipped for bigger things for a few years now. Winning a few 'Breakthrough Performance' awards for indie romantic drama Like Crazy in 2011, Jones instead saw co-star Jennifer Lawrence become Hollywood's favourite actress. Last summer's The Amazing Spider-Man 2 could have been her big break, but her role as future Black Cat Felicia Hardy almost ended on the cutting room floor alongside Shailene Woodley's Mary Jane. Her performance as Stephen Hawking's wife Jane in The Theory Of Everything has won not just awards interest but widespread critical praise. The rest of the year will see her in real life crime drama True Story opposite James Franco and action thriller Autobahn from Welcome to the Punch director Eran Creevy. Most excitingly, she is currently filming the adaptation of award winning dark fantasy A Monster Calls from The Orphanage/Penny Dreadful director J.A. Bayona. And, of course, with Sony's expansive plans for a Spider-Man universe including a possible female led film, she could yet get her chance to do the role of Black Cat justice.
