4. Saoirse Ronan - Avengers: Age Of Ultron

Back before Elizabeth Olsen turned down Star Wars to play Scarlet Witch, Irish actor Saoirse Ronan was linked strongly to the role. It helped that Joss Whedon apparently said that the character was modelled on Ronan.

Unfortunately for Whedon - if he wanted to bring her on board as much as it seemed - Ronan passed on the role and he had to turn to Olsen instead.

What She Made Instead

To be fair to Ronan, she then went on to make the sublime Brooklyn, which was stunning. But if she was motivated by money-making alone, the opportunity to play a repeated role in the MCU would surely stick in her craw a little now that Age Of Ultron proved to be so lucrative.
