The Movie: Batman Returns

Role: Tucker Cobblepot

Back before he was making Batman a viable enough financial brand for Warner Bros to unceremoniously kick him off the job to sell more toys, Tim Burton was making his name as a film-maker with Pee-wee's Big Adventure, drawing the attention of Warner Bros in the process.

Later, to pay homage to his roots, he cast Paul Reubens - otherwise known as Pee-wee Herman - to play Tucker Cobblepot (father of The Penguin) in a short flashback sequence. Without his iconic look, he's almost unrecognisable.

He also almost didn't appear, as Burgess Meredith - who portrayed Penguin in the 60s TV show - was due to play the role and was unable to due to illness.
